More on The Outward Room — notes, confessions, etc.

A few days ago, I struggled with sharing my experience of the breathtaking The Outward Room by Millen Brand — and swore that I would find a way to do so well. I don’t know if this post will accomplish that, but for posterity’s sake [at least], here are the notes I took while I read the novel [marginalia’s been copied and incorporated, because I am tedious that way]. 1. Wow that is the neatest note-taking I have ever seen. Granted I haven’t seen all that many but compared to mine it’s like calligraphy! Sometimes I can’t even read what I’ve written as it’s all over the place and that’s probably why I don’t do notes. But looking at yours makes me want to go out and find a new notebook:)

    1. Hee, thank you. I admit to being a teensy O.C. [okay, not just a teensy bit] with my notes. I need to read them again, after all, haha. Oh, and new notebooks are a terrible temptation. I’ve got so much lined up. Not very encouraging for someone with tiny handwriting, but insists on being an impatient notebook-keeper. :]

    1. Thank you so much, Mr. Cameron. I really loved your introduction — especially that part I quoted; how terrifying it is to have a terrific book fall through the cracks. Again, thank you for being part of the, hm, resurrection of this novel. It’s one of the best, most personal books I’ve ever read.
